SEABA Heli-Skiing Quick Facts

Location: SEABA Heli-Skiing is located in Haines in the South East Alaska and is surrounded by mountains and water. There are several options to go to reach Haines. Either fly to Juneau, Alaska, and take an Alaska Seaplanes flight from Juneau to Haines, or fly to Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, and rent a vehicle for a drive (4 hours) to Haines.

Ski Area: 3000 square kilometers.

Mountain range: Chilkat Mountains

Run Length: Up to 1800 vertical meters.

Ski Terrain: Varied terrain for all abilities, long sweeping intermediate runs that will satisfy the desires of the powder connoisseur, challenging summit descents for experts and some of the most extreme terrain in the world. Average snowfall:  11-15 meters per year

Number of Runs per Day: Depending on conditions we run up to 8-12 in a given day. With SEABA’s “hobbs” program you know exactly what you are paying for.

Grouping: Heli-skiing in small groups of 4, with 1 guide per group. Maximum 6 groups to a heli.

Accommodation

The choices of accommodation in or close to Haines come with amazing scenery that fits all budgets. Whatever your lodging preferences SEABA will make you feel right at home and we are available day and night for any request.

Most common is the historic Fort Seward Lodge located in the center of Haines, 3 miles from our Airport heli pad and centrally located to all the restaurants of Haines.  At Fort Seward Lodge you will find the SEABA crew hanging out after hours enjoying the stories of the day.

If you are not booking our all inclusive package we also offer weekly private home vacation rentals right on the ocean looking at the Chilkat Mountains that we ski in, with the option of private cook and all transport taken care of by SEABA.  Glacier and ocean views right out your window. Treat yourself to a massage, spa treatment, sauna, then finish it of with a beverage and a hot tub.  This is a great option for those who would like a private high end Alaska experience. Equipment

SEABA Heli-Skiing feature an assortment of K2 powder skis, including K2 Annex and K2 Darkside.

Guests must bring their own ski or boarding boots.

Guides & Safety

SEABA Heli-Skiing  guides are strong, capable and experienced.

The safety of our guests and staff is our highest priority and we make every effort to minimize the risks inherent to heli skiing in Alaska. You will not find a more qualified or skilled staff anywhere in the world. Our guides are unequalled and can safely get you and your party down the appropriate terrain that matches your skill level.

Backed by extensive years of professional training, our guides are very strong and capable and are highly experienced backcountry skiers. They will be sure to show you the ultimate Alaska mountain experience, as we take pride in providing exceptional guiding service to our clients. All guests get transceivers, probe, and shovel. You should bring you own regular pack, or airbags.  We also feature ABS and BCA Avy bags for rent at 150 per week or 40 USD per day.

Ability Level

If you can comfortably ski ungroomed red or black runs at a resort in western North America or the Alps of Europe, then you can ski in Haines.

Season

From February until May.

Down Days

According to our ski stats are for every 3 days there is 1 down day, so in a 7 days period expect 2.5 down days,  These days we offer alternative activities.
