Lodge/Accommodation

Klængshóll Lodge in Skíðadalur Valley in the mountains of the Troll Peninsula (or Raven Hill Lodge in Ski Valley as it would translate to in English) will be your home during your stay with us. The Lodge is an ancient sheep farm and the last farmers at Klængshóll were the grandparents of Arctic Heli Skiing’s founder Jökull Bergmann.

The old farmhouse now serves as our dining area where meals are served in our country style kitchen/dining room. The focus is on local products such as organic lamb, fresh fish and game meats such as goose, with great emphasis on using what nature provides in the region. Guests will enjoy the luxury of our new traditional style cabins for sleeping, each cabin has two rooms.

Guests will also enjoy the comforts of our Spa house, which includes a Sauna and outdoor hot tub that overlooks the valley as well as the massage room. The old Barn is where it happens. This is where you will enjoy your apré ski snacks and drinks at the end of the day, with a game of pool or hanging out by the wood burning stove in the comfortable yet rustic lounge. The Barn also host the ski & boot room, ski shop, and gift shop. Our exercise and Yoga room is on the second floor with early morning stretch class and pingpong at night.

Equipment

At Arctic Heli Skiing we carry a large selection of high performance Völkl skis for our guests to use. You only need to bring your boots. We do have a small selection of snowboards as well.

Guides and Safety

At Arctic Heli Skiing safety is our number 1 priority. We are committed to upholding the highest standards in training and safety and your safety is our priority. Each one of our guides has undergone a strict training and exam process from UIAGM or ACMG specializing them in avalanche and risk assessment in mountain environment.  Our pilots are among the best in the their field (and they will be happy to tell you so themselves).

Ability Level

Needed ability depends on a few things such as your group and program, but every skier needs to be a fit intermediate skier and be able to ski under control in off-piste terrain. That said, if you are for example a complete group of four people that have no heliski experience we have plenty of easy terrain and can set the pace to your group’s needs.

Season

Arctic Heli Skiing operating season is the beginning of March through the end of June.

Down Days

Believe us, we hate the term “down day” just as much as you and fortunately we do not have too many.

Keep in mind, the huge advantage of our northerly position, the continuous daylight, means that you can have bad weather till 6 pm but still get out for ten plus runs since the sun does not set until midnight.

However we make sure that the occasional down day is as action packed as possible with geothermal baths, volcano tours, ice cave exploration, whale watching, sea angling and much more.  Of course if you want a true down day you can simply relax at our lodge with a massage or a soak in the hot tub.
