New season… new skis

Check out some of the new awesome freeride skis for 14/15 season that will be sure to make your heliskiing or catskiing trip an even more amazing experience: Blizzard Spur, Völkl BMT 109 and DPS WAILER 112RP. Völkl and DPS have been a longstanding favorites with us here at GO Heli & Cat Skiing, but we are really looking forward to trying out the new Blizzard Spurs.

  • When people see these skis in the lift line they will say, “Daaammmnn.” They’ll have a similar reaction when they see you skiing these beauties. Blizzard will only distribute 300 pairs of the new Spurs globally, and they will go fast. With a wood core built into Blizzard’s Flipcore rocker construction, the ski has 650mm of tip rocker, so it’s slow and gradual yet playful, with 430mm of tail rocker. Flat camber underfoot and carbon fiber laid up through the tip and the tail reduce chatter and swing weight, allowing the Spur to dominate any powder field. Check out on Blizzard-ski.com

Völkl BMT 109lg_volkl-v-werks-bmt-2015

  • Völkl’s new BMT (Big Mountain Touring) line is the latest to feature its signature carbon jacket construction with lightweight multi-layer wood core, whose incredibly thin edge profile reduces weight by 15 percent. Where the BMT excels over previous V-WERKS models is the addition of early taper in the tip. The taper gives the ski a smooth and easy turning arc, yet it maintains the surprising edge-hold and weight savings. With its full rocker profile, and versatile 109mm waist, the BMT is the rare touring ski that holds its own on any chairlift. Check out on Voelkl.com

DPS WAILER 112RPw112rp2-se-pdp-top_4

  • The Wailer 112RP utilizes DPS’s revolutionary use of aerospace carbon and nanotech technology to be 30 percent lighter and 30 percent torsionally stiffer than that of traditional ski layups. Though the Wailer 112RP had been one of DPS’s most popular models, it received a redesign this year to reduce the tip and tail rocker. The new shape simultaneously eliminated the splayed shovel in the longer lengths of the previous version while giving it a bigger sweet spot for more versatility and control. It’s also available in a more affordable, but heavier, Hybrid layup consisting of fiberglass, carbon, and bamboo. Check out on dpsskis.com
